I have a big problem with QRN at my place -- too much man-made noise living in a big city like San Francisco -- but sometimes you get a nice surprise. Last night I managed to work RI1ANT at Mirny Base in Antarctica on 20 meters (14.209). I did it on my home-brew 88' doublet too with just 150 watts. I also heard several VKs, a few Russian stations, and 4Y1A in Austria (couldn't get through the huge pileup to work him, sadly).

I managed to catch RI1ANT a couple weeks ago on 12 meters, never thought I'd manage it again.

If I had a real station I'd be dangerous. :)

I have been finding some good DX early morning time here on the East coast.

E51AND and P29LL just to name a few of the rare ones.

20 has been interesting lately.

Really like that Mosley pro67B yagi and that home brew 3-1000Z amplifier.

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned
