I've just bought a swan 1200x it came with 4 new 8950 tubes. i spent $200 on it the tubes that are in it seems to be real weak but i dont want to put the new set in untill i know what it should be putting out on side band on 10 meters i can only get 300 out with 100 any info would be help full
thank you for your time
p.s.
i've looked all over the net for info and it seems every one has a diffrent rating the this amp

so i probly should be seeing some where a round 600 watts i have one more ?
how is it rm italy geting 1000 watts out of there klv 1000p with same tube just trying to get an under standing on there rating

el 509 or 519 same as 6ql6 all have the same rating the only diffrents it 6volt heater and 8950's 12 volt heat el 509, el 519, 6lq6 has a 9 pin socket 8950 has a 12 pin socket but only 9 of them are used

1200x

I run a 1200x behind a ts 570d and it easily does 500 watts with 80-90 watts in,what are you running for a radio, the 1200x does not have a tuned input so maybe the radio is is folding back,I can not get over 250-300 watts unless I hit the tuner on the radio then output is fine, run a fan over the tubes pulling air out of the cabinet not blowing in,20 meter is the sweet spot for the 1200 I have it does around 600 watts no problem, putting 100 watts in seemed to little difference than 80 watts, never had any issues with the amp and it is used everyday on 20 and 40 meters, good luck with the amp.
