Hard time finding a Douglas Fir 1-5/8" dowel rod. Thought about using a fiberglass shovel handle with wood center. What about the 4' fiberglass mast and camo net sections the military uses? Using it with a 13 element 2 meter yagi.

Anyone have any other alternatives?

    Is it possible to be on a lake and have a homing directional beam being emitted from the shore so a person could navigate to that beam's source? For example at night to a jetty.
