Where can I purchase a Viagra board for the 959 Galaxy? Also Are they stable on ssb now. I heard they had problems with the side band offsets. And have the versions changed or will I still need a blue dot?
Thanks And Merry Christmas
that boards the same as the 2547 base I have on here forsale leave it alone there great radios. If you wanna play a bit you can have the mod done that makes that chassis a dual final they claim they get over 40 watts out with that chassis but I see they work great the way they are with a good tune
As for doing a dual final conversion to the 2547, It can be done but modifications will be needed to the PS because the drain will take its toll on the unit. I saw one drop about 1.7 volts with wattage peaks hitting 39 watts.
Yeah there power supplies aren't much! But you can upgrade them! I did a galaxy 2527 one time with a 45 amp switching power supply and a 2 pill all in the radio! I talked on the radio for two years before getting bored with it! That sucker was pushing 375 watts!!! I have done the dual final conversion to the 2547's for the sake of having higher avg power and and straining one transistor to 30 watts but instead having two do a comfortable and long lasting 35 watts! Radio is still going strong! I do however like the erf 2030 modification as they will do allittle more with less current draw!
I dont think Ill need a tech to install it, I just needed a place to get one. None of my normal suppliers carry them and maybe for good cause. Im hearing there not very stable for ssb use.
There are holes in a fishnet, too, but no-one complains about them!
As for doing a dual ERF2030 on any SSB radio, I wouldn't recommend it. I saw a fair amount of distortion on SSB when I did one on a General Longstreet.
Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
