I have no idea but I hear it often throughout the "Freeband".For sometime now I have always wondered what that dang beep beep beep followed by a machine gun sound of different tones. It's usually found above channel 40 (27.405) and LSB from what I can tell.
See if you can recored it and post it...For sometime now I have always wondered what that dang beep beep beep followed by a machine gun sound of different tones. It's usually found above channel 40 (27.405) and LSB from what I can tell.
I'm not sure what trunked sounds like. Don't have a scanner. All u know is that I have heard it in several freqs above channel 40 and its intermittent all day long every day. Beep Beep beep dadadadadadadadadada. Beep beep beep blahhhhhhhhhhh. Then might go silent for sevreal min then back again.Does it sound like trunked transmissions on a scanner... when you don't have a trunk decoder?

So that is almost the most annoying crap on the band. (Notice I say ALMOST as I'd rather listen to that than some of the ops....but I digress) I guess they figure its "OK" disrupt a band that is not officially "occupied" by operators?? I guess our little stations must not interfere with their extremely powerful systems??Google says it Iran doing it on 27 and 28 Mhz.
Technologically, OTH radar is a very nifty concept. It involves bouncing extremely powerful radio signals off the ionosphere. Signals bouncing back are analyzed using sophisticated computer software, producing real-time data on the positions of moving aircraft and ships within 3 000 kilometres of the radar’s location..

Maybe we should file a complaint with the FCC? (Yeah right)

Complaining to the FCC? Surely I jest ! Oh...and thanks for letting us know that our "Little CB Band" isn't the only one being disturbed. Of course us little people wouldn't know the rest of the spectrum is being disturbed.Forgot to add;as far as complaining to the FCC it won't work. The FCC is internal to the USA and has ZERO jurisdiction outside those borders.

Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned |
