Just scored a free imax looking antenna, but the finish coat is looking a little long in the tooth. Anything I can do? Gel coat? Electrical tape? Thanks!

Lightly sand it with 220 grit paper or steel wool (wear gloves!) and give it several coats of marine grade spar varnish. Any hardware store should carry it. It is meant to last a long time in the sun and salty environment. That's what I have used for years.
i agree with this. mine was done up in flat black . never seen it at night unless right under it.lol

Polyester resin or gelcoat. You can use a green 3m scrubbie to sand it down. Yes, definatly wear gloves...fiberglass slivers suck. What ever you use make sure it has a UV blocker or buy the UV blocker additive. If you use gelcoat make sure you add surfacing agent or it will remain sticky...Made my Antron 99 look like new.

I have used both Marine grade Spar Urethane and spray on Plasti-dip.
The plasti-dip works good on mobile antennas.

I second using the marine spar varnish. I have used it on a few fibreglass antennas after a light sanding, and it has lasted for many years.

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned
