Winlink/Airmail Question

Can anyone tell me if Winlink/Airmail slows down my computer? Since I downloaded the program, my pc sticks as in surfing some web pages. The pages are a little slower in loading and sometimes when I am typing in the address bar line, the letters that I type have a delay. For example when I type a web address, sometimes it won't show anything and a second or so later, the address appears that I typed. It's like a delay or something sticking. Does Winlink/Airmail take up that much resource or does it sound like I have spyware? I have Spybot and Verizon's Security suite running. My pc is a 2.9 gig with 1024 memory installed. I am also running Firefox. My internet speed is 26.7 mb/s on the download and 5 mb/s on the upload. Is Winlink/Airmail slowing me down? I should be running faster when surfing.

I need Winlink/Airmail because it's it's a requirement for one of the emergency communication services that I belong too.

I use Winlink/Airmail regularly and have never noticed a "slowdown" issue with it. Do you see a difference when Airmail is running vs. when don't have it active? Perhaps you have a hardware issue. I'm assuming you're using a TNC of some type?
