Can anyone help me with this?

A) What is the website I need to go to so that I can download the ham radio deluxe software?

B) What is required for the 897 to hook up to my laptop? It looks like I have a six pin serial connector on the back.

I'm interested in using this software to try psk. I've never done this before! Pretty excited.

I would NOT use the DIGVOX feature of the 897.

HRD is no longer "free", old versions (5.24) can still be found on the web, but, they will no longer be supported/updated after 1 OCT.

you will need some sort of interface, your pick, anything from a RASCAL to a RIGBLASTER will work

down load an old version and SAVE it on an external drive/disc or buy the current version

You might try Fldigi. It's a free application for Windows/Mac/Linux that support most digital modes. It's not the most intuitive piece of software I've ever used, but it does work. Your choices for sound card interface are fairly extensive. If you don't want to build one yourself, the cheapest interface might be the Buxcomm Rascal. Personally, I like the Rigexpert interface (if you're going to purchase) but they all work.
