you get tired of hearing the phrase "the real hams are on HF".
After being involved with radios for a good part of my life...first listening, then talking...I went and got a tech license a few months ago.
I had wanted to do this for close to 30 years, but never had the time to apply myself to this (funny how life gets in the way of the things we want to do).
Having done it, I am disappointed in the Ham community.
I read the posts on Eham and QRZ, and see a lot of griping from the old timers about the no code license, and how it has brought amateur radio down to the levels of "CB" and the evil "freebanders".
I have to say that the people I have met on 11 meters, and in particular, on this forum, are far more pleasant, courteous, and helpful, than many of the licensed operators I have heard or met.
Got the license so I could enjoy more of the radio spectrum, but I so far, I seem to have gained little other than become another "unwanted" member of an elite community.
Just blowing off some steam here <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">
