150gtl

A few posters over at C'opper's forum are reporting that some export frequencies are TX blocked. I checked mine today briefly, and it does seem to inhibit TX on a few channels below 26.965. The PDF mod sheet on CBTricks mentions R676 as controlling TX on these "government" frequencies. But I'm too chicken to try to take it out and see. I don't really care if some are blocked, there are still plenty that are open. If no-one else does it, I might check this weekend and post a list of the blocked "government" channels.

Also, and maybe DTB Radio is the guy who would know this, I've seen a couple of the service bulletins for the 150. Are newer versions of the radio coming out with these fixes already applied?

The one for sure that does not transmit is band "A" 3.8 (26.935)
Band "A" 4.0 (26.955) does transmit. I was in the car when I did this, and didn't write them down, but there were a few more that were blocked. I'll mess with it again tomorrow and make a list.

I've been seeing a lot of these radios going for under 100.00 bucks of late ? Is this the norm ?

Here is a list of freqs I found to be transmit inhibited in my converted 150GTL DX. I did this pretty quickly in the auto, so there might be errors...

Wow. Who knew?

I STILL haven't had time to map out any TX blocks on a properly converted 150. None of my customers have ever complained of any blocks, and many of them use the frequencies listed above. Hopefully I'll get time before I sell my last one. They are no longer being made according to my suppliers.

150 gtldx!

Guys i'm really impressed with the quick and curtious ways of h&y electronics!.And yes they are only 99.95 without s&h,cant wait to play around with this one!. bigun (p.s no offense to you dtb)

When you say "properly converted", do you mean removing r138 and moving it to the r676 empty slot? Or just removing r138?

I used the info on CBTricks, which just says to remove r138. Several users are reporting that these blocked frequencies I am referring to are enabled for TX by putting the resistor from r138 in the r676 slot. Like a dumbass, I threw the little bugger away, because I didn't think I needed it. One user reports that just jumpering r676 slot works to enable TX on the blocked channels.

Would that be OK? Or should I use a 1K 1/4 watt resistor, as one other user suggested on CBTricks?

Blast from the past here---

I finally got around to jumpering the empty slot for r676. It worked, the list of transmit-inhibited channels from my earlier post are now tranmit-enabled! Not that it really mattered that much, but for those of you that didn't know to save r138, jumpering r676 works.

I have been using this radio on my base now for a few weeks, using a Cobra CA-72 desk mic (sounds just like a Turner+3), a KLV-550, and Imaxx-2000. D/K of 3 watts on low yields about 100 watts D/K out of the KLV-550, and it swings up from there. This is on level 5 out of 6, in order to pad the input just a little.

I have been working alot of AM skip with this setup, more than usual. People are really surprised to hear me walking the dog with this rig, most of the word on the street about these is that they are no good. I got lucky, I guess!
