I used the Search function here and it didn't provide much; Same with a Google Search.

All I found from Google is loads of shops selling them at various prices, some shops 'providing tuning/aligning/peaking,' etc.

I'm a Trucker and my company forbids linears in their trucks, so I'll be running it barefoot. I want the radio to be a good talker, alas, I have zero knowledge about doing any mods myself, and would much rather leave that to a qualified Tech.

Can anyone direct me to a reputable shop/seller of a new General Lee?

Also, I see the Lee's 10Khz switch has been dropped in favor of a Bright/Dim switch. I find this very odd. I would like to have access to the "A" channels as I have other friends that are drivers and when conditions permit, we shoot skip to each other across country on the "A" channels.

It would make much more sense to me to have the Bright/Dim switch set to Dim and defeated, then have it converted to the 10Khz switch. Possibly someone here could recommend a good Tech to do this mod as well(?)

    Thanks in advance, Brew.

Best price I've seen on the Lee lately is cbradiosplus.com. I think they're in California.

Thanks! have you had in any past dealings with this store?

In my researching here and elsewhere, there seem to be a number of shops that, for lack of better term, butcher the radio with crazy mods before they ship it out.

From what I see, the General Washington still has the 10Khz switch. I've emailed CBradiosplus to see if they still have this model in stock.

From what I've read, the Lee and the Washington, besides a different faceplate are the same radio.

If so, I'm defintely going with the General Washington.

Sparkys CB Shack. I reluctantly bought an Export radio being a Cobra 148/Grant XL user and got it from Sparky. I think the high/low power switch on these radios suck so I had them put a pot on the bottom cover to vary the key from 0-15 watts. Radio with the echo on is about as loud as my 148s and without the echo, still a loud radio without that phoney echo sound.
Of course I paid a little extra for the addition of the variable but for $190.00 + shipping tuned and aligned is a great price and they do excellent work.
DO NOT USE RADIOACTIVE RADIOS unless you want to spend $100 more for a screwed up radio.

I have to agree with Psycho..I'm currently running a Connex 3300HP from Sparky's CB Shack for about 2 months, and have gotten good reports from other drivers and even a few of the local base station operators. I also have a couple of radios (Uniden 78 & Cobra 146) from Clays Radio Shop. Haven't had trouble with either shop's work, but Sparky's usually has better prices.

Whether it is or not I don't know, never took the covers off...I bought the radio and a Road King mic used from a guy needing the money. He only had it 3 months, and for what I paid...it sounds DAMN good! LOL :D

A disabled American Movie Classics channel? Whether it's disabled or not, my General Lee sounds excellent with the stock mic, but definately not even close to the receiver the older Cobra 148s have. I don't have any experience with DTB but from what I hear on this forum, he is a good tech too.

I bought a Omegaforce S45HP from sparkys Told him just do a light tune and the radio works and everybody loves the way it sounds. As for the General Lee Just tell them how you want it set up. I think alot of people call and say I want it peaked and clipped.
YOU DON'T WANT IT CLIPPED or he will remove the Limiter.nuff said?

He clipped my Galaxy after I specifically asked that it be sent stock.

I guess he takes pride in performing his "free" peak and clip.

Ah, I mean peak and tune. ;)

From what I have been told by my tech, They are discontinuing the General Lee and bringing out the General HP Radio. And you might still be able to find a George Washington, which is the same radio.

I never could figure out why the Washington was always priced $25 dollars more than the Lee. Little flag sticker is only difference. I guess they wanted to make you PAY to get away from the rebel banner.

I scrapped the Gen Lee/Gen Washington idea. After researching, I've found the Galaxy DX44HP is the radio I want. Thanks for the replies
