Just do what Butcher said. I did what you're wanting to do and it was alotta work. Got the Dremel and drill out and spent
a good hour doing it! Got it all done and "said to self",wow,that
sure looks good,why didn't I just snip it off and put that darn
connector in place of the "T" connector instead????DDuuuhhhh!!
Needless to say I REALLY think things over as best as I can
now when it comes to ANY kinda modifications to a rig

I've done the jack install in those a couple times, and it never took more than 15 or 20 minutes. I used one of the metal nibblers that Radio Hack used to sell. Remove the existing cord including the plastic cable holder, use the hole as a pilot hole, and go from there.
