My Kenwood 1.8 Khz filter arrived last night and I got it installed. Just used it for a little bit on a ragchew up on 6 meters last night. It does make a difference in digging out weak signals. Have not tried it on the low bands, yet.
As far as it not sounding good, there is a difference in fidelity, but I did not find it objectionable at all. Kicking myself for not ordering the 270 hz filter at the same time.
In regards to Inrad not making filters for the 480, I read somewhere that the felt they could not improve on the Kenwood filters, so they decided not to make them for that particular radio.
