Just tried this. It is not possible to clone a MARS/CAP mod radio with a regular unmodified radio using Yaesu's CT-134 cloning cable. Regardless of what is programmed in memory of either radio. See VX-8R man pg 135.

Just did the mod to the second VX-8R. It is possible to clone the radios if the are either both unmodified, or both MARS/CAP modified.
 

That is very interesting. I guess that's another good reason to purchase the RT Systems software.
