wtd mic wiring for turner plus 3 to kenwood ts440s
I would also slide a piece of shrink tube over pin 5 (inside the mic plug) to prevent any accidental contact and possible damage to the radio or mic from the +8v.
Howabout a Turner+3 to an Icom IC-718 while you are at it?
That will require a schematic and a 1 farad Tanalum capacitor for the hot mic pin.
Anybody have it???
If I'm reading the manual correctly, the voltage is supplied on a seperate pin (2) from the audio (1) so I don't think you would need to block it with a cap. You may want to verify this though - pg. 10 of .pdf file. You can view or download the manual here.
As a minimum in a TS-440 pop off the top cover and look for C-135 on the I.F. board. It's way too damned small. Replace it with something in the order of 10 times larger for some decent tone. There's a lot more that can be done to this rig for good sound but it gets complicated.....
Please advise me to what is a good replacement mic for my SR-497HPC... Answer: 497 is "wired like Cobra", so many choices available. That radio does not need a power mic, so purchase a stock "coffin style" mic with a decent cord, like the ones that Astatic uses. The Superstar DM-507 is my go-to. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3050474478...adANq91JSiEEnz8EGqPJRBloTgEyaVsBoCtoMQAvD_BwE $12.99 + .99 cent shipping.
