Wouxun KG-UV920R Price and Availability Update

Got that email, too. Ed is right - they will sell none of those radios here at that price. I wouldn't be surprised of some of the Hong Kong dealers sell them much cheaper, though.

I am with Duster...

(A)The extra RX....

(B)Then the insane cost...

(3)Unproven design...just too many reasons now to pass....

The free HT is not even enough incentive to buy...what according to early company reports was a fine radio....
Now as released/ strip/down "Plain Jane"....
I'll go with Yaesu for that cost....Better warrenty...etc...
All the Best
BJ

i have to agree and I applaud Ed's effort at trying to make this work some how, but I can just buy the hand held and be money ahead.

Maybe Wouxun thought they could bait n' hook us by flooding the HAM market with their cheap handheld.

I agree with moleculo, the Hong Kongers will notice reduced interest and will be forced to lower prices. The Chinese should have learned by now that we are a frugal bunch, which is why their HT sold so well in the first place.

It is being sold on ebay by two Chinese sellers... here is one:
WOUXUN KG-UV920R Multi-Function VHF/UHF Dual Band FM Transceiver Mobile Radio | eBay

Being advertised as having 150 Khz to 30 Mhz AM receive.

One of the features listed is "Shake dizzy, shaking death". HUH!!?

The other seller in China does not list the 150 Khz to 30 Mhz receive in his specs at all:
Wouxun KG-UV920R Car Dual Band Mobile Radio 136-174 / 400-480 Mhz + DTMF mic | eBay

So I'm left wondering what the TRUE specs of the radio are...

Good grief! Both of those auctions have the price at close to $400! I think Wouxun is forgetting why their other radios have sold so well.

This is pretty disappointing. I was waiting for this radio as a lot of us were before buying another dual band mobile. No question I would have scooped one up had the release price been in the $200 range. No way I'm gonna buy a newly released rig for what they are asking.

I doubt it has HF receive as it was earlier touted. If it did, I might spend $275.

Price is to high for unproven radio. Warranty repair would probably be a nightmare. I'll just wait and see what their competitors come out with.

Kiss my a** Wouxun.

Just a little bit gets lost in the translation from Chinese to English.
I can only wonder how well the user manual is worded.
Anyway, it is discouraging that they have jumped so much in price, had hoped that they would provide some competition to the other major players and make them also become more competitive in there pricing.
