Just checked Custom CB, and he is out of stock too. I wonder what is up? Maybe they did a "feeler" run to see how they would sell over here.
Seems like a really nice rig, especially features/size. Price is not too crazy either considering what you get. I know Brew at CBmagazine is not planning on letting his go.

Can one assume that someone else has copied someones board design and is selling it?
Or possibly breached an agreement?

it certainly flattered the uniden engineers of the late 70's / early 80's, pity they weren't shrewd enough to appoint an attorney wise in copyrighting laws. think of all that extra courtroom experience you missed out on

They do have new radios. Problem is between the time I see them and the time they actually get on the market, someone else has copied them because some supplier wants a cheaper price. Someone has to pay for new engineering.
I know they have some new stuff in the works but they need to get after it and bring them to market before they start to lose market share. 2950DX is due for an upgrade.
In my day job I work with Chinese factories and we hate sending designs over there, by next year we'll see our exact product being sold elsewhere and other companies will buy them and stamp their name on them. There's no use in trying to go after them because by that point it's usually already too late.
We can only blame ourselves for shutting down all the manufacturing in this country and shipping it overseas.
Don't know what the legal deal is the CRE 8900 but I do know I've gotten more comments on the SSB quality than any radio I've ever tested/owned. That's with the stock mike, everyone says it sounds like a desk mike. Glad I got a couple while the getting was good
