I wasn't aware that it was THAT much trouble to just turn the echo off when you didn't want to use it.
You want an honest answer I will give it to you straight if you can handle it. Ok, here it is. Only a dip$hit would install an echo board in a fine radio like a 2950 or 2510. That's what a 2018 echo mic is made for. Sorry man just keeping it real.

Sigh.............There are many radio's that it is considered an unforgivable sin, a total violation to install an echo board in. A 2950/70, Uniden 2510/Lincoln, and any ham radio are examples.
Since a 2950DX is a surface mount board many of them have been really screwed up by good buddy truck stop shops putting in echo boards. I hope your radio is still ok.
A 2018 echo mic is a great way to get a touch of echo and talk-back for AM. You might also consider a Magnum S9 or Omegaforce, they both have echo and all mode variable talkback.
I don't think there is any way to do what you want, the most I have heard of was an on/off switch. You might call an RCI factory service center and talk to a tech on the phone. Or you might take the radio back to the shop that installed the echo board in the first place and see if they can do it.

Very Well said 9C1Driver Thank You. I feel the same way. I use my radios 99% on sideband and anything I have that has an echo in it has dust on the knobs. I enjoy the radio to talk to others around the world and I am sure they don't want to hear any echo or roger beeps
