Natchez, Ms
OK..so much debate has come up with other antennas that have proven there self worthy of being recognized and this is to sum it up for Best All Round antenna and taking from the other poll and narrowing it down! *Don`t do it*

Well not sure which is the best, don't know if there is such a thing as it depends on what works for you or me, but I sure can say that this A-99 at about roof level sure has done a great job for me, if this one ever gets hit by mother nature I may try a metal GP next, I also have a DiPol up and it's junk compared to the A-99

Just purchased a sirio gain master from sirio rmitaly off ebay since I used paypal, look forward to trying it out and will give my 2 cents and a review from my experience ! Will have it up on a 60 foot breakover poll in a open property with 75 feet of times microwave lmr 400, should work out beautiful !

211, here is a tip on installation. Make sure you leave a little slack in the wire like the instructions suggest. This allows the wire not to get too tight inside when the outside bends in the wind.

The bottom of the GM also has plenty of drainage holes that allow water to run right out, but water will run down the wire and coax and that can still go right into the feed line. I use a Teflon type past product called "Stuf" by Cross Devices, I get at www.aesham.com

This stuff goes right inside the connector and sheds any water that tries to get in, like water off a ducks back. IMO...is good stuff.

Here are three models of the GM idea at 36', 42', and 60' feet that shows the gain increase with height, but the beam width for the maximum lobe is also seriously diminished as you go above about 45' feet. IMO, after this height we may see a lot of skip disappear if the angle of arrival is above about 10* degrees above the horizon, and I think this happens more than we imagine even on some pretty long paths. Of course this low angle max can help of the longer path sometimes.

Take note of the little recap on beamwidth that I added too.

I remember something important that Captain Kilowatt said recently...we need to pay some attention to those deep nulls in our pattern ideas too.

Just a thought.

Good luck and keep us posted.

211, check out my post #6 again, I added something that I would like you to give us some feedback on, please. This is one of my hairbrain ideas that I am unable to test anymore.

Not going to be able to test at those heights do to that where the breakover is hinged at is probably around 45 feet and swings up ...im not 100% but will measure and find out exactly! BuT in about 4 months ill have 120 feet of tower installed....before I install my beams, I will try the the gainmaster for a couple of weeks just for grins, then im going up with my killer 8 again !

That's OK.

well this one was diffucult
1/the sgm is ok i dont like the low power handling
2/i10k is also good but alot of money
3/sirov4k i think would twist like a pretzel here in the winter month
so my pick for best OVERALL is the sp-500. good build, high power handling, affordable
