I am wondering if I am the only one who has gotten ripped off by the Guy at R#+m%n CB....Bought a amp for my 10 meter from him...told him I preferred a base with built in Power supply. Insisted that I go with mobile amp and use a Pyramid ps26kx. The P.S. is not large enough to pull it. The P.S. has had something wrong with it from day one. I had never used anything like this so I didn't know...(It was supposedly new) 3 weeks into this thing and it has just stopped working altogether. BTW no instructions with it, no instructions, manual or any type info with the amp or PS...I have now hooked the amp up to my auto battery and alternator. The amp is working like it should! I used #4G wire to run to my auto. Only 10-15 ft 2 ways. Since the 2nd week I have called and called, emailed at least 3 times....no answer from this dude. I will try to get to the factory next. This PS is not big enough...even through the amp is only a small 2 pill. The PS would struggle to make the amp even key up! Barely put out 30-40 watts. On SSB! If he wants negative publicity and advertising he has met the correct person(s) to give it...I am so tired of these people who can't let the ink get dry on an email before they call me trying to make the sale. Then when the JUNK they sell is just that JUNK, they are no where to be found!
Anyone else had this problem?

google MEGA WATT power supply

there is a guy out of CA that sells 36 amp (@ 90% duty cycle) power supplies... keep in mind most power supplies you buy in this hobby are rated for 50% duty cycle.. I think I bought 2 of them for only $120 shipped

What amp did you buy? That's a shame if Your seller paired up the amp and power supply for you and it's to small to run the amp. do your homework and this wont happen again. You have found the right place to ask questions. I like power supply and mobil amp combos and bought a big power supply to have reserve power. And can always change out amps If I come across a used amp or one that's a larger or smaller output. I run stock radios mobil no amp, sometimes export radios but still like the mobil amps.

Thank you...I spoke with him. I bought one of them. Just to have incase the base amp I've ordered doesn't work out. Bad thing about these (as in the CB magazine review) it is made in China. Historically Chinese made electronics are below standard unless the importer insists in high quality. That is an exception to the rule now days. My main point and GRIPE with the Pyramid is with the retailer not standing by his product...Anyone want to know exactly who it is PM me. You can figure it out...R**M** CB ST** Never returned one phone call or email. I've tried since the last of the first week of use. Finally talked to the people at the Fat Boy factory. Told me then it was the PS. The truck battery with my trickle charger is working as good as I can ask LOL....Just a mess of wires all over the place with this, coax for 3 antennas etc. Thanks for the comment

I bought the Pyramid ps26kc. I have a small pyramid (12 amp) for my HAM radio with no problems. But it is not over stressed. This guy knew it was not powerful enough yet sold it to me anyway. NOW won't try to do anything...I have called several times a week since the end of the 1st week and many emails. No answer. I emailed him asking what amp and PS I needed and it wasn't 15 mins till he was trying his best (and succeeded) to sell me this set up! He picked the amp, HE picked the PS...NOT ME! My exact point....he should have made sure of what he was selling was powerful enough or not defective. I honestly believe he never looked at the amp as it was sent to me direct from a distributor. Anything could be wrong with it. The box was beat up like it had been through #$%% and back...This is what gives places like this sites classified and ebay a bad rap when most are trying to be honest.

That's one thing you should always buy more of then you think you'll need ...... amps!

Thanks...I would have bought whatever HE recommended for it...HE was selling the product...HE should have known what it would require...HE should have made sure of what he sold if he did not know. The only decision I made about it was to buy it and I made a big $150.00 mistake!

Clear This Up ...

Maybe I didn't make myself clear I don't know....I had no part in making the decision on what size PS I needed. There is very little information Available online for the Fat Boy and the amps it needs or anything else for that matter.
The RETAILER should have made the right recommendation and knew what he was talking about. I even questioned him about the size...how many amps/volts etc it needed. He assured me it was the right size. I don't believe he put his hands on it as it was shipped far from his store. Shipped direct from the distributor. As for an owners manual, specs anything ...nothing came with the amp stating how to set it up, what wattage to DK and what to expect in swing...This is a modulator for 10-15 meters and I use it for CW occasionally on 12 meters. For 11 meters I use a Galaxy 2547DX swinging bout 12-15 PEP. Ham I use RCI, Kenwood. ALL BASE MODELS.
To try to make my self clear...I am griping about the retailer not giving the service he is obligation to. This would not have happened if he'd have sold me the right product for the job! I would not have spent $150.00 on something that wouldn't do what I needed! Even if what I needed would cost $100.00 more.
I will contact Pyramid next week and see what they tell me about it. Thanks for the comments

My expierience

Although I have never bought from Redman CB, I have read enough reviews here on the forum about his " customer service" that I would avoid dealing with them.
IMHO
From my experience on this matter, I totally agree. I am not familiar with the new generation of electronics. I find myself getting familiar with the new things FAST and in the hard way! I was out of the "Business" since the late 1980's and recently got back. All the new technology just "Blew me away"...I am still use to the Radios, amps antennas from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Not so sure they weren't better in some ways. Much simpler to operate for me anyway.
