I remeber years ago when I bought my first export radio, they were kept in the back room from the other radios.lol
I allways wanted a General Lee, simple radio, old school looks, and loud audio. from what I read it is the same radio and has a sticker on the board Connex 3300HP2, Damm the same radio. I think they both ship with the Ranger SRA 198 mic, but let me know if I am incorect on that. Looking at the face plates the switches are a little different. The Connex uses a NB/ANL switch that includes the roger beep in one position. The talk back switch also has a 10kz. position, 3 position on the dimmer switch 2 on the General Lee and no roger beep on the General Lee. Does the Galaxy DX -33HP2 have the same board ??????? a little different on the switches, But the same radio with Galaxy labeling and MIC, And the price is also the same, Are they equal in quality or is one better than the other. What one is the best quality and feature for the money.

Yup, they all have the same board. As do alot of other exports. Probably some slight variances in circuitry, component values etc.. but basically the same radios on the inside.

They keep the prices low that way.I met a guy in Phila who has 30 people from Cambodia. no english, Pays them 3 meals a day Rice mostly, a place to stay 8 dollars and a ride to work. could be an 8, 10, 12, hr day. did you ever see 32 people stacked in a van.

I have been to every Ranger factory. The employees are paid great wages relative to that countries average pay. The line moves relatively slowly in my opinion. The employees are not working in a sweat shop, nor are they paid slave wages.

I wanna go to a Ranger factory - just to see what it looks like, take pictures and video for the website, etc. I think that would be pretty cool...

Let me know next time you visit, Ill give you a note to pass along telling them to fix that shitty receiver noise.

I would recommend the Malaysia factory. That's where most product is made and where the action is. In a couple years, it will be Vietnam. If you are going to be in Malaysia anyway, let me see what I can do.

Well, I'm not planning a trip anytime soon, so I'll have to take a raincheck. It still would be cool, though.

I email them every day. Send me your fix.

Oh really, any new transceivers from them on the horizon to replace the big boys like the 2995DX or 618?

Is it just me, or does it appear like they've decreased their offerings recently...

They are working on getting the Vietnam line running smoothly and to capacity. Then I expect they will bring out the new model which has been in the works for a couple years.
