My superbase is dead. Nothing but static, no tx, no rx. I havent started on itbyet but did do some research over at grumpy's. I readcthat the superbase was notorious for leaking caps and the goo eating runs on the board. I did notice a crystal with 3 leads. Never seen one before. Does anyone have a service manual or decent schematic so that I can start the project? Thanks

Sorry I can't help you with a manual but the reason I bought mine is I like the 2 antenna hook-ups in the back. so you could use a vertical or a beam antenna. But I have since got the impression they are a bear to repair and expand. And all the good repair techs are far off so it means dealing with the gorilla baggage handlers. I hope you find what you need !

From what I understand.... Capacitors leak and eat up traces. Unless I really valued the Super Base, I wouldn't want to recap the whole radio, replace or repair the VCO, and then hope none of the wires while working on it breaks on you. (They are a solid copper wire vs stranded.)

Yeah. There sre also 2 boards. 1 plugs into the other. Do I need to make a jig to work on it on the bench. Sux.

Best you can do is just be careful not to move the wires so much. solid copper can only bend so many times before it just breaks. And when it does break, its going to be hard to find which wire.. But don't stress it too much. May as well make it a project to recap the radio and if you dont want to tackle the VCO stuff, buy one that has already been repaired.
If you dont want the headache and dont want to mess with it, eBay is your next best bet to let someone else buy it off you.

Not my first rodeo but thanks for your concern. Yeah. Ebay is where it came from seems like most non working radios come from fleabay and are described as working. Once you receive them, they dont work. Seller then blames the shipper. I have over 300 radios here a lot came from ebay but the real good ones I got from rrputable sellers. I'll take pics of the wiring prior to opening this can if worms. Thsnks

There has been about 4 radios that gave me so much hours of grief, I purposely left them up top high on a shelf in the Garage.. :D This way I can't get to them anytime soon. :)
