Was coming out of my local hardware store & getting in my car when a man seen I had a CB in my car. He ask if I wanted a base station that was his grandfathers. It was in his car and showed it to me and I seen it was a Royce with a Turner Plus Three power mic. I was in a hurry to take a 2 hour trip so I just grabbed it and ran because I was in a hurry to get to where I was going. My first radio was a Royce so I have a soft spot for Royce. Well after I got to where I was going I checked it closer and found it was a small 23 channel AM Royce base Model 1-620 A built in 1974. When I made it back home from my trip I had to clean it a little and hook it up to power it up. ( Doubtful ) When I finally got it to fire up ( loose dirty connections ) on channel 19 I was amazed how good that little radio sounded and all lites lite up even the transmit lite. If a man like restoring that sort of thing it would make a nice project for someone. I'm thinking about making the offer of a free radio to someone if you pay the freight. Other than that I might just give it to my local electronic scrap guy.

I have a Royce 23 Chanel am/ ssb base that was given to me several years ago by an older gentleman I was friends with before he passed away. It still worked until recently, I figure it needs recapped and some work done to it.

That is good it has ssb which makes it more of a keeper. Mine is just AM so I'm going to pass it on, but keep the Turner Plus Three mic because I've heard good about them. But I'm hoping someone in here chimes in on how to rewire a hand SuperStar mic to work with my little Royce base. I've been looking for info on it but it's not my real field and my manual dexterity leaves something to be desired. LOL
