Okay, a friend brought over an older 148GTL and complained that it was smoking from the back when he powered it up.
I have fixed this problem all the time by simply replacing the protection diode. But, this time, that didn't fix it completley. I replaced the burnt diode, and made sure it was installed the right way, and now it still won't "completely" power up.
When you turn on the radio, you can hear the relay go "click" but the panel lights (channel display) and meter don't come on and it has no transmit or recieve.
What else can I expect to be messed up after the diode completely blew?
Also does anyone have a schematic for this radio that I can download?
