Supposedly they fixed the 1/6 watt resistor problem.However they still dont compare to the late 80s early 90s uniden built models that were made in the Phillipines.After dyanscan sold the brand name off the quality really started slipping as I have been told that they are now made by Maxon.As far as finding an old Phillipine built model watch ebay and Yahoo auctions I got one a few weeks ago for $40! If I had to buy new I would buy a Uniden pc68xl or a pc78xl as they are a better built radio in my opinion (though cosmetically the cobras have that classic styling).

BEST choice in a 29 is the older 29 XLR with the uPD858 chip. Easily modified and superior modulation.
