Anybody really happy with their 40-80 m mobile antenna? ! run a hustler with 40 and 80 resonators on it. Seems to work "OK", but very narrow bandwidth. I'm intrigued by the screwdriver antennas, but so far, everybody seems to run 20m and up. Anybody really tickled with their 40-80 m mobile setup? If so, share with me your success.

Tnx,

Physically-short antennas with loading coils, or "resonators", are going to have a high Q, meaning a narrow bandwidth, as you have observed. It's physics, and there's no way around it. And it's worse on 80/75 than it is on 40.

The only thing that the screwdriver antenna has in its favor is that it can automatically adjust things right at the feedpoint. You can adjust the Hustler system manually; it's just not as convenient.

Correct, the more I dig into and play with mobile antennas, the more I learn that NOTHING is better that to simply put MORE antenna in the air.
I am working with home brew HF antennas right now...there are ways to match them, but more in the air equals a bigger signal.

No free lunch.
