Well didn't sleep well last night was up at 3:30 EDST(7:30z). I made a pot of Strong JAVA and turned on the rigs.

8:45Z....VK4MON...MARK/50W TO A DIPOLE AT 40FT...55...MARK WAS TOUGH COPY THRU THE STORM STATIC BUT WE MADE IT WORK FOR A FEW MINUTES.
ALREADY HAVE HIS QSL CARD!...ISN'T eQSL A GREAT SERVICE!

Peter and I carried on for quite awhile as you can see over 40 minutes. We had quite the chat. He was a pleasure to work. Hope we meet again soon. He was about 100km from Brisbane in Queensland.

HB VERTICAL Feed with 450 Ladder line hidden in a tree at 25ft...Al had a nice signal. He called me right after Peter and I signed. We moved up 4kc to move away from Peter in Queensland as he was calling CQ again. Nice chat.

I was running my Yaesu FT-950 plus my Restored Drake L4B amplifier at about 900w to my (2) Phased Dipoles cut for 75 meters feed with 450 Ladder line at around 40ft.
I continue to be surprised by that very simple array...(my JUNK box)wire antenna!
I think I'll get up early again Sunday....40 meters how can you not LOVE that band early in the morning!

eQSL can't hold a candle to the thrill of getting a card through the mail - a card that was actually filled out and mailed by the very person who sent it to you, with the postmarks, postage stamps and all.

Or a large envelope of cards from your district's QSL bureau.

eQSL -- it's okay, but not thrilling.

I heard ISO on 40 early this morning (Sunday) and he was coming in at s8 to 9 ....and he had a pileup that was just huge ...needless to say I didnt try to make a call....Seemed like all of the U.S was calling
