87 GTL Mosfet Mod?

I'd suggest just adding a small amp rather than going through the trouble for the modification unless you're just looking to experiment.

i dont think the power supply would be adequate to really take advantage of this mod.
sorry if i forgot to mention that in the other 87GTL thread.
power supplies in CB base stations are designed to provide enough amperage to get 4 watts deadkey and 12 watts PEP. BARELY!
they dont spend any more money than they absolutely have to.
so, if this mod was to be done; an external power supply would have to be used.
i would go with 7 amps constant, just to be safe.
i will compare the schematics and provide the proper component numbers for the 87GTL, but just as a warning; i have not tried this.
that means that unless you are familiar with mosfet mods, and wont be heartbroken if it doesnt work; i wouldnt do it.
i will post the info tomorrow just so its out there.
if someone wants to try it; thats their business.
