I bought a modified Bird meter with the 2x 5x 9 volt multiplier. I started testing some 9v units I had in a box and they were reading 11.4 - 14.6 volts. Is this typical? Is there that much voltage loss in these wall units?
Am I right to be concerned about replacing the 9v battery with a wall wort testing at 14.6? 11.4 seems more acceptable.

New I see a stack of power supplys in my future lol.
If there is the slightest question of interference go linear supply.
If you absolutely have to use switchers check around first or use converted server supplies. Some of the azzhat switchers can be choked into silence but not all.

Start out small and follow a well traveled path before you start designing your own power supply path. It will save time , $$$ and aggravation .

I wouldn't. Why risk an expensive bird for a five dollar wall wart? Use batteries or spend the money and get a quality 9vdc supply. Personally i would just suck it up and use batteries, birds aint cheap

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
