Well heres what's up. I was talking to the Dosy guys today and they wanted me to give them a little help. Some may know that Dosy changed ownership about two years ago form Crystal Electronics. They wanted me to find out what all the CBr's wanted in a wattmeter plus picked my brain. I already mentioned about a true peak reading meter to them which they are interested in. What would you all, the customer, want to see? What are your thoughts about a test center like the Black Cat Catalyzer? Tell me your thoughts and I will sure forward on the information to the right parties. Put some thought into it and lets get the right stuff to them. Thanks to all of you in advance.

Maco,

I'm currently using a Cherokee 3000. It is a great mid-priced accurate meter that really suits my needs. Unfortunately, it is no longer in production. I haven't looked at any of Dosy's meters to see if they have one that is comparable in price and features. I think one that has the features of the 3000 and was favorably priced ($65.00-$85.00) would sell very well in the CB/11meter Hobbyist community. "Also what do you think of one like the Blackcat Catalyzers with a scope and freq counter. These would be high end but would they sell?"

Hell ya these would sell.I would love something like this! Sign me up for 2 of them.

As educator said, the TM3000 Cherokee fits the bill. It's small and reads in good scale incremnts, reads REVERSE power which is priceless for CBer with an amplifier. Size matters as well. CBers need a meter that can go mobile or base. A huge meter is a pain in the mobile. Remote sensing would be the one nice add on. I could care less about a counter in a meter in most cases.

I've smoked a new Dosy with 1000rms. hardiness is an issue as well as stray rf.

The Dosy TR1000 is a joke. Show them this and tell them that's what they need to aim for:

Kinda like that but skip the modulation feature as they never hold up.

SWR, fwd power, reverse power, and watt scales of 30-300-3000 or 10-100-1000-5000.

I realize labor is cheap in Taiwan, but geez if they can make a meter that close to perfect and able to retail them for $80, surely someone in the US can get close to that. Show the links I put above to the guy and ask him if he wants me to send him a meter to go by.

It cost me 65 bucks to have a meter replaced and calibrated on a 3001. I know that you are talking about new designs, but charging that much for a repair on that meter seemed kind of steep.
