I am planning to build a modified t2lt vertical using a 102 in whip as "top half". I want to mount this to a 2x4 for a mast. Will securing the coax/bottom half to the board cause signal loss or tuning problems?

You'd be better off wrapping 5T around the 2x4 in a 4.25" circle just below the feed point, then adding 3-4 or more 108" wire radials at a downward angle, like guy lines, approximating a Starduster since you'll have a typically lower SWR than making a 180° dipole by placing the choke 18' down from the tip.

And I doubt you'll see any signal loss by securing it to a very dry 2x4.
