I am curious what these Workman wire Dipole indoor antennas will handle for power 50 - 60 watts??? Also Antenna Specialists make an antenna thats for apartments it clips in a window I guess from what I have read I am wondering if these work ok and what the power rating is on them. And last but not least has anyone ran these little Saturn base club style groundless 500 watt antennas are they ok or garbage. I dont mean to ask so much off the bat but this has been on my mind for some time now and I seen these in my catalogs and a friend is moving to an apartment and ask me to find him a base radio with sideband and a nice indoor antenna because I am buying my Kenwood back from him because he will no longer be running it. I am getting a great by back deal so I would like to help him out with a new setup and I would like to do it the best I possibly can right away to avoid any problems as much as possible . Thanks to all who can help Tony......

The "Saturn" referred to above, if that is the little black plastic no ground antenna that H&Y or copper sells, it will work, and it does cover a broad bandwidth with low SWR, but the performance is not that great. I got one to use to talk from the office to the shop in the back of the plant were I work and it is good for that, but to use it to talk across town, you would be better off spending your money on something else. On the A/S antenna, many years ago, I used a similar antenna(can`t remember the brand) that was for 10 meters, it had a counterpoise wire that went along the floor that acted as the "Ground", I had to get a longer stinger for it because the one with it was to short(it was cut for the 10 M band) but it did work, and it worked quite well from the 2`nd floor Apt we were in. I was only running a President Washington base at the time and no power, but I did not have any problems with it. I finally talked the Aprt Manager to let me put a AR-10 up on top of the building, and gave the window antenna away, but it served its purpose for what it was, just don`t expect to make any 20 mile contacts with it.
