If you go to cb tricks message board, then re-direct to the old message board, and then search the radio mods section for it you should find something. I had posted the same question last year and got a few replies.
You can change the receive devices (I think there is 2) but I'm not sure if you will see a noticeable difference.I never did do the work to the radio. I've also heard of a "super ears" modification, but I think if you are close to someone it will damage your radio.

most shops don't "mess" with the receiver because they don't own an rf signal generator. this doesn't stop some of them though. without one the receiver cannot be re-aligned, the s-meter cannot be calibrated and the noise blanker cannot be adjusted for proper blanking levels. receiver troubleshooting and repair is also much more difficult and time consuming without one as well. have it checked out by someone with the necessary equipment before you begin considering tampering with the circuitry. in doing so you could just be making a simple problem much worse.
