makes no sense to run a radio with power and use an amp unless you turn the output way down. In my Chevy Tahoe I run an Anytone 5555, doing just about 50 watts, if I hear someone they can hear me, why do I need to run an amp?? If I had a 12 watt radio sure I can see that but these guys running 500 watts or more it's just crazy. SSB does not need anything more than 50 to 75 watts to talk skip all over. AM is a different story but I don't use AM at all.
