After lightening got my archer .64 I took to rebuilding an original avanti Astroplane I had been given a while back. Took it all apart cleaned up the joints replaced the connection wire from the so239 to the driven sleeve and drilled out the snapped bolt from the top and rethreaded it.
Drug it up the tower and finally ended up at 60’ to the skirt from the ground. Mounted it on a 10’ stick of 1.25” imc.
Tunes on 10, 15, 17, 20, 40 and 80 using the atu 100 Chinese auto tuner pretty easily, how it works on those bands I don’t know yet- I’ll fool with it later on that.
Without running the tuner the vna shows
26 mhz swr of 2.1
27 mhz swr of 1.1 and 50 ohm
28 MHz swr of 2.2
Reports are good on 11 meter. Better than the archer had been. The bottom of the astro skirt is at the same height the base of the archer had been.
