hi all, i have a lincoln that i dont use very often,i had a radio report from a station on ssb who said my audio appeared to be cutting out,i have ruled out the microphone and am wondering whether the radios previous owner may have played inside with the dreaded screwdrivers, when talking sometimes the output of the radio seems to drop off, this seems to happen when on full swing/full output, could the audio be clipping off?any ideas would be a great help.

Check your power supply? Do you have a watt meter to see it happen? Check into a dummy load. See what haapens and let us know

A few things that can cause it, not enough amperage causing voltage drop, ALC set wide open, shorted bias diodes on either the final or driver, or bias set wrong, voltage to VCO isn't stable.....

In order of possibility.

Would a loose nut behind the wheel do it? :P
