Ok all, I know this has been beat to death here and there but I have to bring it up again.

I'd like to know about base antenna that people have USED(not just heard about)

I plan on using this for DX ONLY, not concerned about local traffic, I have that covered.

This will be for 11M only, to be mounted on a 40ft tower.

Price is a bit of a concern but not a major issue.(yes I said that..lol)

I have looked at beams, verts and so on, and need to hear about real world experience.

Right now I am currently running an IMAX with the base at 75' and would like something that will allow me to reach out and touch somebody just a little bit better(always gotta improve right?)

thanks in advance all!

Jeff

i hate to beat a dead horse to but......junk the imax2k

and put up a interceptor 10k no caomparison at all....

even as of late when people claim the conditions are not there

im still wokin DX with a small radio......mine is only 55'....75' would be nice.....

if ya want more a beam would be the way to go.....

quad?yagi?

but you will also need a quality rotor and so on......

it may also be a good idea to invest in something to assist you in tuning process(mfj-259b)bird43 with a low wattage slug)

field strength meter.......etc etc......

just tryin to add some useful input......

all great ideas and things to think about...I think my plan is to have the IMAX at 75ft for the base and prob a maco 104 on the tower @about 45ft, I have been rather impressed with how the imax has done at that height and cant see another omni doing THAT much better, but would like to be able to dail somebody in with the beams and tap them on the shoulder.

Any Maco owners have anything else to add?

I will be running anywhere from the barefoot lincoln to the 10tuber!

I have an ASP-350 aluminum groundplane. Best antenna I have ever owned. It is around 22 ft. in length. It has 4-102" horizontal radials at the bottom and an eggbeater on top. I have it up around 50 ft.I can sit here and talk to Gettysburg and the Poconos everynight on AM and SSB. Both are 70-80 miles away.
