New it would have to be a Lincoln, I don`t think you will find a new HR2510 around now days, I got my last "New" 2510 many years ago when AES was closing them out, and they were out of production then.

the Lincoln is basically the same radio, has Variable power on AM/FM , a MRF 455 final, and a "slightly" different faceplate.

They are time tested, solid radios, the Main Uniden Board has not changed much over the years, I got my first Lincoln back in the early 80`s, and the lay-out is still about the same, less the 455 final, and a few minor improvement's. They do not seem to suffer from the day to day use in the mobile, like some radios, they take a licking and keep on ticking.

I like the smaller chassis, this is a plus in today`s cramped vehicle's were finding a good place to mount a radio is hard enough without the added size of a "DX" type radio.

Nice Design with the entire back of the radio as a heat sink for the final. one solid chunk of Aluminum, plus cooling fins, and a small fan can be mounted to it easily.

Great audio , stable SSB rig, and if set-up properly, will run with the best of the Exports on AM, even if they do use "Low-Level" AM in the PA section.

Easy to step the Frequency's with the VFO and the span feature, you can easily un-lock the RIT(if you want, I never have) Built in Mod meter, SWR meter, Frequency display(Its not counter, just a Display), and when expanded, have the standard 40 channels, with "a"channels in band "G"(CB Band)

26 to 29 MHz converted, it is not hard to do, (if you add a ChipSwitch even more frequency's and features), they are Great little mobile radios(No they are not a Icom 706, god I just had to say that Frank(Joke)sorry LOL) for the money.

You might want to ask Justin at FG about how they set them up, I think he might even run one himself....

Cons:

No RF gain, they have a Loc/Dx switch, that is basically an attenuator switch, it cuts the RX when you push it in.

No Mic Gain, again they have a switch, that pads the Mic gain when you push it in.

The Channel Buttons "zero" the last digit in the stock configuration in all but the "G" band(the Chipswitch address`s this and the Mic buttons by making it a user selectable function, see more about the ChipSwitch HERE(click)

Minor, but....

Right now I have 2 Lincolns, a 2510 and a 2600(2600 is ten Meter only, never converted) and all of them have given me very good service. Other radios have come and gone, but the 2510/2600/Lincoln`s live on.
