Can i mix an hg with a dei?

I'm out ..... no auction for me.
I already have 3 Texas Star Sweet Sixteen amplifiers, and I'm about to sell one of them with HG transistors in it.
I was just looking for my next project.

Ok so i have this texas star sweet sixteen, its about 1yr old and one of the dei transistors has failed. The other 7 are just fine. I cant seem to find any new dei transistors, so can i just put a hg in its spot and call it good? If i have to do all 8 matching etc forget it. The amp will be scrapped.

Back to your original question, yes you can mix transistors, but do not expect good results.
I have popped the top off several brands 2879's.
The closest internal match I have seen so far are DEI's and PP100's ......
HG's are close to those two, but definitely different.
ASI's are different still, but seem to be more robust than the three I mentioned above.

Genuine Toshiba's are a beast in their own right.
I haven't seen any others as robust or with as much internal amplifying area as the Toshiba transistors.
