Capture Area?

I know the more capture area you have the better the receive, but what about transmit?

How much difference would the capture area affect a 108" whip on center of a truck roof vs a monkey made or a "10k" on a semi, both radios transmitting the same power?

Also given that if both are transmitting 40 watts pep, and one is running a Class A and the other a class C amplifier, who would have the advantage in a "shootout"?

That 'capture area' is more a way of thinking about things than actual fact. It doesn't carry over directly to transmitting. An antenna not 'pointed' at a station transmitting doesn't have as much 'capture area' as one that is.
As for the differences in class 'A' and class 'C' amplifiers, when you said both were using the same power output, about the only difference would be in 'quality', not strength. See where that's going?

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
