Actually that would be a matter of opinion of the owner of the radio. For example, I would not want a 2950 opened up, nor would I want that done to a radio that has a dual clarifier control. I had a Uniden Grant xl that was also not opened up and it worked great, it was always dead on frequency. Most shops will not just always do this unless you request it.
