OK, I know that you all know this, but I figured I had to add something. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

I have and at least 8 of my friends have been using

RG8U from radio shack with the premade connectors

sold in 50ft rolls for years and running 2000 pep average

watts and have yet to have a faliure of any kind.

Their standard for coax meets standards set for RG213

so I would never be affraid to recommend its use.

didn't sell it anymore

Last time I was in there (Rat Shack) they didn't sell it anymore, RG8X took its place --- the small stuff.

Re: didn't sell it anymore

I've used the "8-mini" for several years and I have yet to have a problem.

Re: didn't sell it anymore

Well, the stuff that I have seen at radio shack, now keep in mind, the stuff that has Tandy on the casing and has crimped on ends is junk. Whether it be the RG8 or the RG58 or 59, if it has the crimped on ends, the first thing I would do is cut the ends off and use some good amphenol connectors.

Yup

Those Rat Shack ends are crimped on, and have chicken crap threads. But I too ain't never had the coax fail under heavy load --- except for squirrel damage.

Re: Yup

I use Belden RG8X or the mini 8. Run power and never a problem. Never good luck with RS stuff.

Re: Yup

Radical shack stuff has & always will be Junk, My local shack never has what i need. I ask them if they can order it in and they don't even know what i'm talking about 1/2 the time, i have to show them in the book. If they can't hire people that know things, what makes ya think they got anything better to offer ? I cant evenget them to cary capasitors and Transistors that would come in hany for me.

Re: Yup

Ditto on the crimped ends.....

switch out with amphenol and all is well.

It is a frustrating outfit to deal with sometimes.

But there are a lot of times that I am happy to have one nearby.

Fortunately my local is a franchisee, so he carries galaxy radio's, Wilson antennas etc.
