What can be done to increase the power on a cobra 25 other than changing the final? Seems like most of the radios I see are set at about 2 watt dead key and they won't do much more than that.

Ive got one sitting on my bench right now thats set at 2 watts dead key and will barely hit 5 watts with a whistle. Modulation doesn't seem to be the problem just power.

what has to be done to peak and tune one of these things? Surely the stock 2078 final is capable of more power?

cheech, you said that the radio has a 2 watt deadkey and will hit 5 watts with modulation.
is that 5 watts measured in PEP or average?

if its average, then you are doing just fine and the radio is putting out a good amount of power.

if they are being measured as PEP, then 100% modulation would give you about 8 watts.

if this is the case, then you need to turn up VR5 until you get 100% modulation from the radio.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
