ok getting ready to hook up a courier 23 tube radio with a boomer box 250 tube amp, still need a inexpensive antenna of some kind any suggestions, words of wisdom. thank you

The least expensive I can think of is a 9' piece of gray sch40 with a 1/4 wave long piece of wire inside as the top 1/2 of the antenna, and three or four 9' long guy wire radials down to insulators. That's about a $15-$20 home made Starduster.
Or you can use hard drawn copper tubing and a 2' fiberglass rod for mounting and insulating the base with a 10 turn coil around the 1" fiberglass rod to ground or the mast. That's about $35-$40.
Or you can buy a Penetrator or Gainmaster if you can spend $175-$200 shipped.
