What would cause a mic to make a quick, loud high toned beep when releasing the PPT switch? It is only heard on my radio. Those I talk to say the sound of mic is great and they cannot hear the after sound as I release the switch. It is a D-104 connected to a Uniden pro 510xl.

i know what you're talking about. it's got to be a dirty connection either inside the mic or with the wiring.

if it is a model with the base keyer and the sidekeyer, i've had similair problems. the part that keys the mic (to the point of modulation) was a little "dirty" and needed help getting keyed. this requires a lot of high tech stuff, such as computer paper and small fingers. i played around with it until i found a place to stuff the paper in where it would key how it's supposed to.

other than that check your shield on the connector. it could be that or a loose connection on one of the other pins. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/pimp.gif ALT=":hat">
