20150501_142143.jpg These d104 add on's20150501_142143.jpgwere available back in the day. As far as i know there no longer produced. I've two. one on my main silver eagle and the other on the back up. With so many d104's still being used and sold it surprises me someone doesnt re produce them. Thay sometimes show up on ebay for about $25 and are quickly snapped up.

from the older crowd,,, a tug 8 stand with a d104 head is set it and forget it thing,,,,no need to constantly adjust it,,,,probably goes for the tug 9 stand too,,, it like the ezkey was just something to show off with 30+ years ago..

For the most part i do agree with the "set it and forget it" but when i would go from ssb too AM (not very often if at all, anymore) i notiiced that i can get more audio out on AM and still keep it nice without over modulating. Example:on ssb my d104's (madison) dialed in at number 4 on the dial and on Am 5 1/2 is the sweet spot. Like most newbies often do I once couldn't resist the erage to turn the mic's volume up and down every few minutes trying to get as much audio also possible out of my radio/mic. I'm way over that and never touch the mic's volume but in the instance someone who might use the Same d104 for different rig's it's a nice little invention to have. Adjusting a d104 with a screwdriver for whatever the reason it is a pain in the ass. on my tug 8 stand i dont change the adjustment but change the heads,, i use d104 for am and a 10da for ssb.....this is on my first generation president washington..

I own a 10-da and a turner
+ 3. There both wired for my madison but for some reason sound poor on ssb. I've heard the 104 then the 10-da both on the same cobra 2000 . The 10-da sounded so much nicer on ssb. Unfortunately my 10-da and + 3 may have a problem. The odd thing about the +3 is I've tested it on AM and it sounded excellent. I'm thinking my voice just doesn't match with the +3 on ssb. As far as the 10-da I suspect it needs to have the element replaced. I also own a +2 and am concidering wiring it for my madison as I've been told thay sound nice on ssb.

on turner mikes look on bottom and see if there is a little hole with a pot on the inside next to the battery spot,, that is the adjustment to match to radio the top pot is to adjust modulation,,,,, the reason i mention this is because i have seen this on 2 refurbished turner mikes,,, some one used the amp and bottom off of a super side kick and put on a +3 body,,, these mikes are getting a lot like the astatic tug8 and 9 stands and are being mix and matched,,,,, getting hard to age a tug 8 stand when someone has changed the bottom cover with the date and put it on a newer or older body,,, the same has been going on now with these 30=50 year old turners,,,,taking a few old mikes and putting together one good one,,,, i seen on ebay back about a year ago some one had a turner +3 with a gold screen head,,, that was undoubtly taken off of a browning mike and put on a turner,,,, sad to say just the other day on ebay i saw a turner mike that had a 104 head cobbled up on it ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,just some ramblings... 73s midnight special

and just another thought i have a super side kick for my washinton i probably use it more than the other 2,,, but after i adjusted the bottom pot it gets a lot of compliments....i know of a few instances where some had a ssk mike and couldnt get to work on their radio because the didnt know about the bottom pot...
