Dielectric grease?

I've not noticed if it was posted before, but is putting this on the center conductor a good idea or bad, or no real effect.

I was just thinking maybe a little prevention for corrosion.

I usually put self seal shrink tubing on the connector.

Andrews Wire and Cable Co. warns against getting any of it on the center connector.I tend to go along with that idea.
