A friend of mine has talkback in his 2970 and he wants to take it out to be able to use his power mic.. I looked and there is a ceramic cap and resistor mounted near the audio chip. Thats the only thing i can find unless there is something mounted on the component of the board.

Find D78 and see if one of its leads have been clipped.
If so; just solder it back together.

If it has been removed, put a 1N4148 diode in it.
Remember to observe polarity ! ! !

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
