dx 959 sideband issues

Hi all,

I have acquired a galaxy dx959. It puts out great on AM but when I transmit on sideband it cuts in and out, thru the talkback. Have only made one ssb contact and they said the same thing. There are no radio shops here in British Columbia that will deal with cb. Has anyone else had this I issue???? Is there an easy fix?

Sounds like someone clipped out the AM Limiter transistor. Typical. Just replace it with another.

Just had a look and the q39 transistor is still intact......

ALC setting may be too high.

Make sure that you have a solid power connection and your power supply can handle the load.

Make sure that the mic cable doesn't have a broken wire inside the mic plug too . . .

I turned down the alc by maybe a 16th of a turn and now its loud and proud on the talkback. No locals here to try it tho! Will see how the skip is tomorrow!
