RESOLVED *** New radio. Plugged in. Turned on. Upon plugging in microphone, radio would shut off. Inspected the mic board. Two legs on the transistor of that board were touching. Cleaned up solder. Problem FIXED.

Plugged mic in and keyed up. Just one problem, No Talkback. Everything else works. Everything.

Talkback pot tests good.

Suggestion? Please keep on topic.

Some of the problems with Galaxy radios - in general - can be found with bad connectors. Sometimes they are dirty; sometimes the header pins on the boards have a bad solder joints. Not exactly common to happen; but not so rare that one should overlook that possibility.

But for a new radio to do it?
Wow.

i have been having to fix a few brand new DX959's over the past year or so.

its always been a quality control issue. something not mounted right, bad solder connection, or a half plugged in connector.

i doubt it's going to change.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
